Hi! I’m Elien
Elien is an architect / artist currently based in Malmö, Sweden, previously working and based in Ghent, Belgium. Originally from Deinze, she studied Applied Architecture at Howest in Bruges and Architecture at Sint-Lucas in Ghent.
Her practice moves between architecture, textiles, fashion, design, color, and spatial exploration, shaping both her design process and material choices.
In her architectural work, she focuses on use, spatial experience, and atmosphere, with particular attention to reusing and rethinking materials. This approach equally informs her artistic practice, where conscious material choices, reuse, and careful making play a central role. Across both practices, she works with natural or recycled materials, minimizes waste, and strives for fair and responsible production. Quality is approached holistically considering not only form and longevity, but also process and intent.
Sustainability is understood not as a fixed outcome, but as an ongoing, honest practice.
